Volunteer Opportunities

Our prayer every season is that homeless women in Champaign County will find a warm, safe place to stay in Austin’s Place at CU At Home, and that God will provide us with the helpers needed to keep Austin’s Place open each night.
There are various ways that you can get involved. Each role is vital to our organization and serves a very important purpose. We truly believe that our friends from the community are the lifeblood of the ministry!
  1. Be a friend of the Phoenix: Spend some time hanging out at The Phoenix Daytime Drop-In Center by playing cards, hanging out, or talking to our friends without an address. It may not seem like much, but it's important to just be there and make relationships with the individuals that we serve!
  2. Volunteer Drivers & Riders: Do you like to drive? As part of our Transportation Ministry, we often take individuals to detox facilities or shelter in other surrounding communities. This is an opportunity for you to help us get them there or simple accompany us on the trip.
  3. Professional Case Managers: Each of the residents that come through our transitional housing are provided with a professional case manager that meets with them every week. It's a great opportunity to use your skill and passion to help those that need it most. Contact our Housing Coordinator at 217-819-4569 for more information.
  4. Spiritual Advisers: Do you have a passion for discipleship and walking along with someone on their spiritual journey? Our residents meet with a spiritual adviser each week for encouragement and wisdom.
  5. Groups: There are many different opportunities for groups to help us out. This looks different depending on the week or season that we are in. Please contact our Phoenix Coordinator at 217-819-4569 for more information on coming in with your group.
