Austin's Place: An Emergency Shelter for Homeless Women
Austin's Place has been the only emergency shelter for single women in Champaign County. For twelve out of thirteen years, Austin’s Place operated solely on volunteer effort - from volunteers who stay overnight, transport guests, do laundry, make phone calls, advertise, collect donations, etc. Dedicated service meets significant needs and provides valuable support to all the guests that come through our doors. We are thankful for all the faithful volunteers who so generously give their time, energy, prayers, and financial support! Austin's Place happens because of our volunteers!
In fall of 2019, C-U at Home and Austin’s Place made the bold commitment to re-open year-round emergency shelter services in C-U by November 1st, 2020. By the grace of God and our incredible community supporters and partners, that dream will now become a reality more than four months earlier than planned! This is a huge step of faith but we know we serve a BIG God with whom all things are possible!
C-U at Home and Austin’s Place have decided to continue operation of the men’s and women’s emergency winter shelters THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER, INTO THE FALL, AND BEYOND! Due to the current COVID-19 situation Austin's Place had already extended this shelter season three times from April 15th the original closing date to April 30th to May 30th to June 14th. As we looked ahead, we wanted to ensure our friends without an address have a safe place to stay overnight and can continue to have constant contact with our ministry.
We appreciate the continued prayers and support and know we can’t do what we do without YOU! If you are interested in learning more about the shelter or joining our “Hope Givers” monthly giving team, please email our Executive Director, Rob, at email@example.com or visit www.cuathome.us.
To God be the glory, great things He has done and will continue to do!
MANY THANKS to Daily Bread, Canteen Run, and other food sources for their donations of lunches and dinners - especially during the Stay-At-Home Orders. Your generosity is much appreciated.
MANY THANKS to all of our donors! Our current model of shelter is more expensive but because of your generous support we are able to offer our guests shelter to keep them safe and warm. If you would like to support our continued efforts through a donation, please visit our donations page.
Your prayers, good thoughts, and words of encouragement help keep us in the fight! Until there is no need, we will humbly serve.

Austin's Place is still open and sheltering women! We are doing things a bit differently to protect our staff, volunteers, and guests from COVID-19.
If you would like to make a monetary donation to help this effort during these unusual circumstances, please visit our Donations page for options and instructions.
